Marisol's birthday (finally!!!)

Hi Everybody,
Mckenna here again:)  This party actually happened before Sophia and Emma and Amaya left for the doll hospital, that is on april 19th.
Instead of cake we had amazing homemade gingersnap cookies:)
Here are some of Marisol's presents.  These are hair elastics.

And here are iwako erasers, really fun japanese puzzle erasers.  We have a giant collection of them.

Here she actually opening a gift.

It's a mini lalaloopsy (sorry if this is spelled wrong) called Dynamite, we think it's a superhero one.

And one more present, can you see what it is?

It's an ugli doll.  Around here ugli dolls seem to be a common birthday present :)

That's it for now.

Gone for a while

Hi Everybody,
Sophia and Emma and Amaya left yesterday for the doll hospital.   This is a guest post by all of us who are still here.  We plan on keeping the twins' blog going for them while they are gone.  Marisol had her birthday yesterday too before the girls left, we'll post some pictures of that soon.  In the meantime, here are a photo of their transportation:  a box, before it was taken to the post office.  They left with the 5 pm mail, it was a busy day and a close call getting them there by 5.

Don't mind the flower, our address had to be blocked out somehow:)  Thank you pic monkey.

See you soon.

Guest post

Hi Everybody,
This is Amaya.  Here are a couple of photos of how I spent my evening yesterday.
Eating homemade cookies and drinking hot chocolate while skyping with my sister in Japan.  It's almost bedtime for me but she is getting ready to leave for school the next morning because of the different time zones.  We try to skype once a week at least.
After that I decided I would do a little sketching before reading for a while and then going to bed.

That's it for now.

Amaya :)

Yom Hashoah (Holocaust remembrance Day)

Hi Everybody,
Yesterday was Yom Hashoah, otherwise known in English as Holocaust remembrance Day.  Each year, people in many countries around the world remember all the Jews (and others who were killed or imprisoned in the Nazi camps such as Gypsies or Homosexuals) who perished in the extermination camps and the concentrations camps (see holocaust articles on wiki for the difference between the 2, most people think of them all as concentration camps) and all the non Jews who helped saved Jews sometimes dying themselves.
Here is a link to Canadian commemoration as we live in Canada:
http://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/canada/yom-hashoah

We also found out today that one of the most well known Nazi doctors, Dr. Mengele, particularly liked to experiment on twins :(

When Sophia was traveling with Rebecca and Marisol and our mom, in 2010, Marisol visited this Holocaust memorial in Boston:

It's important to remember dark times in History so that they don't get forgotten.  Some people believe that there was no holocaust, that is not true.  Also, right now in other parts of the world, people are being killed just because of their race or religion.

That's it for now.  We'll be back probably later this week with a more cheerful and upbeat post.

Bonus passover post

Hi Everybody,
Because we started the first night of passover, we ended up with 8 items plus one:)  But this food item is so yummy and easy to make that we didn't want to leave it out:)  It's definitely a snack and maybe a bit much this close to Easter but here it is anyways.
Here it is on a plate (after we had eaten some already of course)

That's if for passover.  I can't promise we'll post that often ever again but it was fun.  We hope you enjoyed all our passover treats and suggestions.

Passover #8

Hi Everybody,
Today's passover food/what to eat on matzoh item is matzoh pizza.  Usually we just use a flat piece of matzoh for this but today we made more matzoh meal buns so we tried making a couple of flats ones to use as pizza bases.  It turned out OK:)

This is what they looked like before they went in the toaster oven.
And here they are ready to eat.

That's all for today.

Sophia and Emma :) :)
